To be judged over a traditional Hunter course with natural obstacles
Horse and rider are judged on style, rhythm, and overall presentation as they navigate a flowing course of natural fences. The emphasis is on maintaining an even pace, meeting each jump in stride, and creating the best overall trip possible. Smooth lines, consistency, and elegance all come together here. It’s all about showcasing a polished, steady ride from start to finish.
To be judged over a Hunter course of natural obstacles incorporating handiness.
The Handy Round rewards accuracy, efficiency , adjustability, and rideability. Riders may face tighter rollback turns, trot jumps or bending lines that ask for obedience and finesse. The goal is to show a horse that is clever with its feet, adjustable between fences, and confident in taking on something a little less conventional.
To be judged on handiness and options over a Hunter course of natural obstacles — optional high jumps and handiness options are worth more points in the overall round.
Riders will encounter natural obstacles that reward courage from their horses. Jumps out and back in to the ring will be offered on course (as well as an option to bypass them).
*Always follow in-gate instructions and be mindful of horses on course.
While this is a relaxed, one-day show, a certain standard of turnout helps keep things safe, respectful, and competition-ready. Formal show attire is not required,*** riders and horses should be presented in a neat, respectful manner suitable for competition.
